Quality of life is what we all want. Good health helps us achieve a high quality of life. Health fitness must be a part of your daily routine and in consideration at all times.

To determine your approximate caloric needs, you can easily compute your basal metabolic rate. This is the number of calories your body needs to maintain its basic functions and your current weight. You can determine your BMR by multiplying your current weight by 10. For example, if you weigh 180 pounds, then eating 1,800 calories a day would be your BMR.

Of course, this computation doesn't take into account exercise or your activity level. So if you exercise regularly you can take in more calories and still be at your maintenance weight.

If you are trying to loose weight to maintain your heat fitness, a deficit of 500 calories a day will lead to the loss of a pound a week! There are so many things you can do to reduce your caloric intake with little effort. For instance, switch to water first thing in the morning instead of fruit juice. Fruit juice is high in sugar. Since most of us are dehydrated in the morning, water is the best thing to quench your thirst anyway. Switch to sugar-free products and drinks instead of eating the standard foods with added sugar and nondiet drinks. Then don’t forget to exercise. Health fitness simply doesn’t exist without some exercise. Even moderate amounts make an enormous difference in your health. And walking with your spouse or a friend can be fun.
