Eye makeup application is an art which can be mastered with a little practice. Follow some simple rules and you will become a pro.
First, when applying mascara, for best results, first look down and brush the top lashes from the roots downwards, then look up and brush the top lashes upwards.
Allow them to dry, and similarly apply a second coat. Then brush with a clean dry brush, to separate the lashes. This last tip will prevent clumping.
The eye shadow you choose should flatter and enhance your eye color and the shape of your eyes, as well as your whole appearance. The skin color, the eye color, and your life style need to be considered when choosing and using eye shadow.
Set your eyelids with powder if you'll be using powder eye shadow. If you'll be using cremes or pencils, they will glide more easily over a foundation alone without a powder.
Next, choose your colors. To identify colors that work for you, you can actually use your hair as a guide.
Blondes look good in creams and taupes. Brunettes are often more flattered by mochas and chocolate browns. If you are auburn or redhead, try coppers, peaches, and reddish browns or cool tones like pink and lavenders. Gray hair is gorgeous with grays, soft purples, and soft blues.
One extra eye makeup application tip that is most useful:
For eye shadow that looks "just applied" for hours, first base your eyelid with a cover cream in a shade which closely matches your squinting. Then apply your eye shadow over the cover cream.
The process of the powder adhering to the cream will create a smudge resistant base for your eye shadow. This is an eye makeup tip which will ensure that your eye makeup lasts a long time.
